Change log

Every database migration applied to CharityFile, and changes to the fees, deadlines, exemptions, penalties and other state facts in our database, with the date of each. The database writes each fact entry itself and refuses a change that does not name who made it. It also refuses to edit or delete an entry, so a correction always appears as a new entry.

See /coverage for the share of rows whose quote we found in its source and the oldest review per jurisdiction, /api/quality for the machine-readable JSON snapshot, the RSS feed of the newest 200 entries, or the CSV export of every entry.

244 database migrations since Apr 24, 2026, and 1115 fact changes since Sep 9, 2026.

“The due date on which to submit financial information (IRS Form 990 or audited annual financial statements) shall initially be extended until the IRS due date, and then until the IRS extension dates, as necessary. For the initial request, the registrant shall submit to the department an extension request letter with the annual registration form stating the IRS due date. For any further extensions, the registrant shall submit an additional letter or a copy of the IRS request for an extension form. The extensions apply to Form 990, the annual audited financial statement, and any other information referred to in § 5-53.1-2(a)(9), (11), and (12). With respect to organizations that submit compiled financial statements referred to in subsection (a) of this section, extensions will be granted upon written request, totaling not more than six (6) months.”

RI deadline rule: extension months 6 → none; extension notes File a request letter with the annual registration. Financial information is then due on the IRS Form 990 due date, including any IRS extension dates. Further letters or Form 8868 as DBR directs. Not automatic without that request. → The extension covers only Form 990, the audited financial statement and the related items the statute names, not the re-registration itself. File the annual registration form by its due date with an extension request letter that states the IRS due date; the financial information is then due on the IRS due date, and after that on the IRS extension dates. For each further extension, send another letter or a copy of the IRS extension request. An organization that submits compiled financial statements gets extensions of up to six months in total on written request.

RI deadline rule: base reference fiscal_year_end → registration_anniversary; days offset 135 → -30; calculation notes Re-registration due 30 days prior to expiration (registration expires 1 year following department approval) per §5-53.1-2(e). The FYE+135d in DB approximates this for fiscal-year-aligned orgs but actual deadline is anniversary-based. IRS Form 990 extensions extend the financial-information due date. → Encoded as registration_anniversary, days_offset=-30, cycle_years=1. Fact entries record changes to fees, deadlines, exemptions, penalties, required attachments, agencies, audit thresholds, deadline extensions and conditional duties, including changes made directly in the database. A fee, deadline, exemption or deadline extension entry shows the source quote and link of its row, or says what the entry did not record. Migration entries record every migration applied to the production database. This page shows every entry. The database refuses to edit or delete an entry of either kind. “Made by: not recorded” marks an entry from before we recorded who made each change.
