About CharityFile
CharityFile is a compliance tracker for nonprofits that solicit charitable contributions in more than one US state. We track the deadlines, fees and exemptions of each US jurisdiction that has a general charity registration.
What we publish
All 51 US jurisdictions. For each of the 38 that have a general charity registration, we track the due date, the renewal fees and the exemptions. For the other 13, we record that there is no general registration. For every jurisdiction, we track the penalties. Every deadline, fee and exemption quotes its source and links to it. Each source is a statute, a regulation, or an agency's own page, form or guide. We keep the quote so that you can check it yourself. The coverage page is the public record of this work.

The founder has more than twenty years designing critical distributed systems, formerly a VP of Technology and a solutions architect for Fortune 500-grade systems.
We treat the law of 51 jurisdictions as code. Every deadline, fee and exemption quotes its source and links to it. The change log lists changes to state facts, with the date of each.
